Accessibility statement
This accessibility statement was last updated on 25 June 2025.
Girlguiding values inclusion, equality and accessibility for all. That’s why we want to make sure everyone can easily access and use our platform, whatever their needs or abilities.
Known accessibility issues
We’re aware of some areas on our unit meeting recording tool that aren’t as accessible as they should be. We’re actively working to fix these. If you spot something that’s not listed below, please let us know by emailing digitalpilot@girlguiding.org.uk.
Here are the issues we’re currently working on:Some images don’t have descriptions (alternative text) for screen readers.
The “Activities” dropdown menu isn’t easy to use with a screen reader.
Information on card components is read all at once by screen readers, which can be overwhelming.
Error messages in forms are not automatically announced to screen reader users.
Some aspects of autocomplete are missing on forms.
In some places, links are only shown using colour, which can be hard to see.
Some buttons don’t show a visible outline when using a keyboard to move around. This is due to missing visible focus indicators.
The way the keyboard navigates through the site can be improved and made clearer.

How we review accessibility
We have a suite of automated tests. Within our Playwright testing framework we’ve implemented Axe Core, an engine used to drive many accessibility testing products, and our tests will detect such things as:Text that’s hard to read because of poor colour contrast.
Buttons or form fields that don’t have labels for screen readers.
Repeated code that might confuse assistive technology.
This setup also gives us the ability to run the accessibility tests on mobile devices giving us great coverage over all possible access mediums. Currently these tests are run on an ad-hoc basis where we run the process manually once a week or so as we address current issues. The aim is to integrate these tests into our normal ways of working, so that they run everytime changes are made to the live version of the tool. When we find issues, we’ll add them to our list of work to be fixed.
